Siemens to Cut Jobs at Lake Mary, Fla., Telecommunication Plant by One Third.

Mar. 19--Siemens AG's embattled telecommunications subsidiary said Tuesday that it will lay off 14 percent of its U.S. work force, including more than a third of its remaining employees at its telecom assembly and testing operation in Lake Mary.
Siemens Information and Communications Networks plans to notify workers this week. Company spokesman Tom Phillips said the number of employees in Lake Mary would drop from 550 to about 350.
"ICN's employment is declining worldwide as a result of the continuing downturn in the telecommunications market," Phillips said.
