Central Florida Officials Ramp Up Communications, Security.

Mar. 20--Communication among local, state and federal law-enforcement officials was ramped up almost immediately today in Central Florida to head off any potential terrorist attacks.

But local agencies are also watching peace activists who may disrupt access to public buildings or roads, and police are ready to respond to hate crimes against Arab-Americans.

While Florida remains under a level orange Homeland Security alert -- the second-highest level of readiness -- links between counties, the FBI, the state's emergency operations center and the Department of Homeland Security have been stepped up to share intelligence.
