Putnam Investments Reorganizes.

Mar. 21--Putnam Investments yesterday shook up the top ranks of its investment staff, as Charles E. "Ed" Haldeman Jr., brought in last fall to oversee the group, made his first decisive move to reinvigorate a mutual fund firm that's been battered in the bear market.

Virtually all of the steps were aimed at making systemic repairs to Putnam's aggressive growth funds and improving communications among analysts and fund managers. Haldeman said he was looking to make the investment group "less hierarchical, less structured, and less bureaucratic."
