New Bank to Move into Old Site in Eugene, Ore.

Mar. 24--In six weeks, look for a new bank in downtown Eugene to take the place of a departing one.

West Coast Bank plans to open a branch on the northeast corner of Oak Street and Broadway on May 1, about 14 hours after Union Bank of California permanently shuts its Eugene branch in the same space.

"We have had customers and noncustomers who have inquired as to when we were going to come to Eugene," said Ken Jundt, a regional president with Lake Oswego-based West Coast. Union Bank's departure "provided us with the means to enter the market."
