Lawmakers Continue to Work on Airline Relief Bill.

Mar. 27--WASHINGTON --Senate leaders drew closer to agreement on an airline rescue package Wednesday, as an industry group reported that plummeting demand in the first week of the Iraqi war forced carriers to make additional capacity cuts and eliminate more than 10,000 jobs.

Key GOP senators are in broad agreement on a plan worth between $1.5 billion and $3 billion and will continue to work on the components Thursday, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, said after a meeting Wednesday with Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., and other senators.
