Mar. 27--Southwest Washington Medical Center wants to build a 20-bed hospice east of Hudson's Bay High School, providing only the third free-standing care center for dying people in Washington.

The $3 million project would be built on a grass-covered parcel along the north side of Mill Plain Boulevard, south of Quarnberg Park.

The hospital would purchase the land from the city, which has owned it since 1937.

The Central Park Neighborhood Association will discuss the proposal tonight.

A potluck starts at 6:30 p.m., followed by the 7 p.m. meeting, at the Washington State School for the Blind, 2214 E. 13th St.
