University of Missouri Health Care Drafting Option for Employee Layoffs.

Apr. 1--ROLLA, Mo.--University of Missouri Health Care is drafting a plan to lay off employees in the event revenues don't increase in the near future, the organization's chief executive said yesterday.
"We have no plans to put that in play at this time," said MU Health Executive Director David Coats, "but if increases in volumes don't materialize quickly, we want the plan together."
Coats told the University of Missouri Board of Curators that MU Health is trying to become profitable again by increasing revenue.
Revenues can rise only if patient counts rise, Coats said, and for patient counts to rise MU Health needs more doctors and to streamline...
