California Supreme Court Seems Divided on Intel E-Mail Case.

Apr. 3--LOS ANGELES--The California Supreme Court on Wednesday appeared deeply divided over how to balance free speech rights in cyberspace against a company's right to control its e-mail systems, underscoring the high stakes for Internet law in a bitter feud between Intel and a disgruntled former employee.

During hourlong arguments, the justices sparred with lawyers -- and, indirectly, with each other -- on whether the courts ran afoul of the First Amendment by barring 56-year-old Ken Hamidi from flooding Intel with hostile e-mails.
