UnumProvident Urged to Seek CEO with Disability Insurance Expertise.

Apr. 10--Financial analysts of UnumProvident Corp. say the company ideally should hire a chief executive with disability insurance expertise who also is a top-level manager, but that person may be tough to find.
"To find someone with industry experience, he'd have to come from a smaller company. There isn't a larger company," said Stewart Johnson of Lehman Brothers in New York.
Chattanooga-based UnumProvident, the nation's No. 1 disability insurer, is searching for a new chief executive to replace J. Harold Chandler. He was ousted from the company on March 31 amid a loss of investor confidence.
