Apr. 10--With its network-operations center, multiple Internet connections and sources of power housed in a former nuclear-fallout building that is manned by armed guards, DataChambers said yesterday that it is ready for business.

The Winston-Salem company has office space as well as heavily protected computer, Internet and other storage areas so companies can operate in case a fire, flood, power outage or major disaster keeps them from doing business in their normal offices.

The company is gradually putting in more than 1,000 desks with computers, telephone lines and other networking equipment in its building off of Old Lexington Road. More than 22...
