Chase Manhattan Bank Left Red-Faced by Wrong Number.

Apr. 11--Some credit card holders who tried to phone Chase Manhattan Bank this week found themselves listening to a breathy young woman purring about the joys of sex.

Chase recently sent letters to customers nationwide who have Continental Airlines Visa cards, telling them to dial an 800 number if they'd rather not switch to new Visa Signature cards, which offer extra airline miles and in some cases carry a higher annual fee.

But the letter contained a typo. Callers reached a phone-sex outfit instead.
