Apr. 27--David Hughes has done it again.
The Colorado Springs wireless warrior helped set up an Internet cafe at base camp on Mount Everest -- 17,500 feet above sea level.
Hughes, a 75-year-old wireless pioneer who has helped hook up computer and phone networks in remote places, provided the technological know-how.
He taught the project's organizers how to set up wireless networks in sub-zero temperatures on the side of the world's tallest mountain.
The project's group, led by Nepalese businessman Tsering Gyaltsen, set up a large tent and hooked up several laptop computers that connect to the Internet via satellites.
