Apr. 18--ANAHEIM, Calif.--Al Coates picked a heck of a time to start his new job.

The Mighty Ducks swept the 2002 Stanley Cup champions, the Detroit Red Wings, in the first round of the playoffs Wednesday, Coates' eighth day as the Ducks senior vice president of business operations.
