Former University of Missouri President Says Merger Idea Is Efficient.

Apr. 21--Former University of Missouri President Manuel Pacheco says he never advocated closing a UM campus and that he once suggested to the governor that the state bring all its four-year colleges and universities under the UM umbrella.
"As we were looking at the financial situation in Missouri, I thought one good approach to it might be the consolidation of a number of institutions with the University of Missouri being a central part of that," Pacheco said.
