May 2--There was a time when some of the words commonly used to describe Saab's cars included "quirky," "stodgy" and "safe, sensible and not very exciting."

However, there's been a turnaround, and it's exemplified by the 2003 Saab 9-3 Vector four-door sedan.

Applicable words for this all-new sedan include "high-tech, cutting edge" and "contemporary."

That's because Saab has brought styling into today's world without erasing some features that immediately identify it as a Saab. Most notable is that the ignition key --- a bladeless fob, actually --- still goes in a console on the floor.
