University of Missouri President Says Colleges Need to Merge.

May 2--The state of Missouri has more colleges and universities than it can support, University of Missouri President Elson Floyd said this morning.
Floyd has been at the forefront of discussions about a merger between the four-campus UM system and Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. Efforts to gain legislative approval for such a move have been postponed, but officials at both universities say they will move forward next year.
