BMW Group Posts Increase in U.S. Sales.

May 2--The BMW Group, thanks to a strong month from the company's MINI brand, reported a slight April increase in U.S. sales.
Sales of the BMW Group, which include BMW brand and MINI brand vehicles, improved less than 1 percent to 24,131 in the month.
The MINI brand reported April sales of 3,121 -- up from 1,559 last April.
BMW brand sales alone, meanwhile, fell 6.4 percent to 21,010.
Officials blame a 34-percent drop in sales of the BMW X5 sports activity vehicle, made at Spartanburg County's BMW Manufacturing Corp., on low inventories. The New Jersey-based group reported U.S. sales of 2,716 X5s in April.
