Orange County, Fla., Voters to Be Wooed with Pluses of $8 Billion Transit Plan.

May 5--In five months, residents will vote on the biggest public-works project in Orange County history, an $8.8 billion road, rail and sidewalk plan that hinges on raising the sales tax a half-cent.

In the meantime, they won't hear much about the actual plans to build new roads, rail lines or sidewalks. Instead, backers of the so-called Mobility 20/20 initiative will ask residents to think about how much more fun they could be having if they weren't stuck in traffic behind a smoke-belching semi.

Instead of fuming on Interstate 4, you could be eating dinner with your family. You could be at the gym. Or happy hour. Heck, you could even be reading a book -- anything's...
