Proposed FCC Cross-Ownership Rule Change May Reshape Media Landscape.

May 6--WASHINGTON--Early next month, the Federal Communications Commission is expected to take a series of votes on media ownership rules that could have a great impact on who provides the news and entertainment that comes into your home.

The debate about how much concentration of ownership to allow among media companies is reaching a critical point as the commission, whose chairman is the deregulation-minded Michael Powell, prepares to act on June 2.

"These could be the most momentous decisions coming out of the FCC in a decade," said Chris Murray of Consumers Union, a consumer advocacy group that has urged the commission to maintain ownership limits....
