Kyocera Corp. to Supply Fast, Wireless Internet-Access System to Australia.

May 7--TOKYO--Kyocera Corp. and NEC Infrontia Corp. will jointly supply an Australian company with a high-speed wireless Internet access system, sources familiar with the deal said Wednesday.

The system is capable of constantly sending high-quality moving images and other data to a large number of terminals at a rate of 1 megabit per second, the sources told Kyodo News.

The system, the first of its kind in the world, can provide high-speed transmission of data even when as many as 200 terminals, such as personal computers and personal digital assistants, are simultaneously hooked up to the same base station, the sources said.
