Internet Shopping-Mall Operator May Integrate Infoseek, Lycos Japan Management.

May 8--TOKYO--Rakuten Inc. is considering integrating the management of two portal site operators under its umbrella, Lycos Japan Inc. and Infoseek Japan K.K., by the end of this year, Rakuten President Hiroshi Mikitani said Thursday.
But Rakuten, Japan's biggest Internet shopping mall operator, will not unify the portal sites at least for the time being as different categories of Web surfers have used them, Mikitani told reporters.
Prior to the management integration of Lycos Japan and Infoseek Japan, Rakuten will arrange for online game service provider Jgame Corp., another Rakuten group company, to integrate its management with Infoseek Japan's in August, he said....
