Texas Senate Approves Radioactive Dump.

May 8--AUSTIN, Texas-A bill to authorize creation of the first low-level radioactive waste dump in Texas won approval from the Senate on Wednesday, but only after the measure was changed to limit the amount of material that could be stored at the site.

Unlike the House version of the legislation, which has no limits, the Senate bill would restrict the radioactive waste at the dump to no more than 6 million cubic yards - mostly of contaminated dirt.

Senators approved the measure on a 23-6 vote. It now returns to the House for consideration of Senate amendments.
