Connecticut Senate Backs Extended Moratorium on Underwater Energy Projects.

May 29--The state Senate voted unanimously Wednesday to extend by another year the moratorium on underwater energy projects in Long Island Sound, but the bill faces a somewhat uncertain future as it moves forward to the governor's desk.

Gov. John G. Rowland's spokeswoman, Michele Sullivan, said Wednesday night that the governor must weigh the environmental and energy issues before he signs the bill.

"He probably will sign it, but I'm not going to commit to that," Sullivan said. "The question is: How do we get beyond just postponing things?"
