Tribune Co. Benefits in Hartford, Conn., As FCC Eases Rules on Media Ownership.

Jun. 3--WASHINGTON--Tribune Co. can maintain its ownership of two Connecticut television stations, plus The Hartford Courant, and LIN TV Corp. can keep its two New Haven-area stations under new media ownership rules approved Monday by the Federal Communications Commission.
The controversial plan, adopted by a partisan 3-2 vote, could trigger great changes in the nation's media landscape, allowing broadcast networks to grow larger, more companies to own multiple stations in the same market, and cross-ownership of newspapers and television stations in large and midsize markets.
