Group Visits Columbus, Ga., to Pick Up Pointers on Economic Development.

Jun. 1--A group of political and civic leaders from Augusta, Ga., were in Columbus to see this city's progress.

Instead, they got to hear the sweet sound of that progress.

"Can he play?" a woman asked Friday afternoon as Columbus State University professor Joseph Golden stood next to the $1 million pipe organ inside the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts.

Golden sat down -- even though the instrument was under repair -- and played a few quick notes.

When he finished, the group responded with a nice ovation.
