Opponents in Congress Clash on Asbestos Trust Fund Bill.

Jun. 5--WASHINGTON -- Despite significant differences with Democratic colleagues about how a national asbestos trust fund should work, Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah and chairman of the Judiciary Committee, vowed Wednesday to push ahead with his bill, possibly as soon as next week.

A lengthy Judiciary Committee hearing Wednesday highlighted the remaining disagreements over how best to make sure people made ill by asbestos get paid fairly while limiting the long-term exposure of businesses and insurers.
