Japanese Prosecutors Unlikely to Appeal Ruling on Snow Brand Milk Products Co.

Jun. 6--OSAKA, Japan--Prosecutors are unlikely to appeal an Osaka District Court decision which gave suspended prison terms to two employees of Snow Brand Milk Products Co. over a mass outbreak of food poisoning in the summer of 2000, prosecution sources said Thursday.

The Osaka District Public Prosecutors Office had indicated it might appeal the ruling, delivered May 27, saying it could not accept the court's rejection of the link between the death of a woman and negligence of the employees in the largest food poisoning case in Japan since World War II.
