Jun. 6--FOR 2004, MAXIMA IS BIGGER AND BOLDER: Nissan's Maxima has been maximized for 2004, from the angular styling similar to Cadillac's newest offerings to an inviting interior that begs to be enjoyed.

From the doorman at the Goodwin Hotel in downtown Hartford doing a double-take as he spotted the car to bingo fans in a McDonald's parking lot in Torrington, the ember-colored Maxima SE I was testing drew admiring glances, along with the question, "What is it?"

Why is the 2004 out so early? When you have something this good, any automaker would want to show it off and not keep it hidden until the once-traditional September launch of new cars.
