Congressional Hearing Focuses on Layoffs of Former TWA Employees by American.

Jun. 13--WASHINGTON--Two senators came up empty-handed Thursday as they searched for ways to help Trans World Airlines Inc. employees who were furloughed after the St. Louis-based carrier was swallowed up by American Airlines Inc. two years ago.
"Promises were made that would have led a reasonable person to believe that more would be done for these people than was done," Sen. James Talent, R-Mo., said during a congressional hearing called to discuss the merger and its repercussions.
