Union Members Hunt for Investors for Indianapolis Airline Maintenance Base.

Jun. 13--Union mechanics who lost their jobs when United Airlines closed an Indianapolis maintenance base are looking for investors who are willing to reopen and operate the facility.

Local Lodge 2294 of the International Association of Machinists has hired the Yucaipa Companies, a Los Angeles investment firm with close ties to the Rev. Jesse Jackson and President Bill Clinton, as an adviser.

"It's our opinion an investor could come in with a solid management team, reopen that facility and attract work from carriers that are currently subcontracting their work," said Robert Roach Jr., head of the IAM's transportation division, which oversees airlines and railroads.
