EPA Money to Wash Up in Florida's Coastal Counties.

Jun. 17--CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla.--Florida's 34 coastal counties will receive more than $500,000 in federal money today from the Environmental Protection Agency as part of a national effort to ensure the safety of America's beaches.
The money comes from nearly $10 million available to 35 states and territories this year to monitor water quality, issue timely warnings or closings and protect the public health.
EPA Administrator Christie Whitman will present the grant to the Florida Department of Health during a 10:45 a.m. ceremony at Cherie Downs Park in Cape Canaveral.
Nationwide, the grants to states vary from $149,025 to Florida's $544,552....
