Florida Senate Moves Toward Endorsing Caps on Medical Malpractice Awards.

Jun. 18--TALLAHASSEE, Fla.--Outgunned in yet another political firefight with Gov. Jeb Bush and the House, the Senate on Tuesday finally moved toward endorsing a new cap on jury awards in medical-malpractice cases.

Ending months of resistance, the full Senate today is expected to endorse a higher limit than sought by Bush and the conservative House, but one that still hits hard at Florida's powerful trial lawyers, a major source of Democratic campaign cash.
