Jun. 20--No matter what happens to the U.S. economy, two Philadelphia personnel companies sit on opposite ends of the employment seesaw -- one up, the other down.
These days, CDI Corp., a billion dollar recruiting company, sits at the bottom.
"Companies have put their hiring on hold," said Allen Salikof, president of Management Recruiters International Inc., a CDI division and the largest management recruiting business in the nation.
With many companies laying off instead of hiring -- 2.7 millions Americans have lost their jobs in the last two years -- there's less need for CDI's services, so its revenues and profits have suffered. CDI's...
