Jun. 21--SAKS ON TRACK FOR BUILDING: Saks Fifth Avenue is coming. Really, it is. Construction started this week on the upscale retailer's 80,000-s...uare foot department store at Triangle Town Center.
The news helps s...uelch rumors that Saks, troubled by the economic slowdown and the mall's sluggish start, had backed out of a deal to open at the North Raleigh mall.
Mall owners have fenced off a large chunk of the parking lot near the food court where Saks will build the store, the company's first in North Carolina. Saks will start building in August, once site preparation work is finished. Because of the early work, the store could open...
