Congress Expected to Approve Bills Adding Prescription Benefits to Medicare.

Jun. 26--WASHINGTON--Congressional leaders were poised Wednesday to pass a major expansion of Medicare benefits within a day or two, meeting a timetable they set for themselves weeks ago.
"We are making great progress on this issue," President Bush told a bipartisan group of House members at the White House.
"We have a historic opportunity to seize the moment and get a good bill done."
Votes are expected tonight or Friday on separate House and Senate Medicare plans. House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., said lawmakers were "on the verge" of adding a prescription drug benefit and preventive services to Medicare, and giving the program's 40...
