Escalating Costs for Workers Continues to Haunt Employers.

Jun. 27--Simmons & Company International prides itself on providing robust health benefits and letting employees see the doctor of their choice.

And despite a 20 percent increase in the cost of providing that care next year, the investment banking firm says it is holding the line on deductibles and employee co-pays for prescription drugs and office visits.

But according to an annual survey released Thursday, Simmons is a dying breed.

Across Houston, workers are being asked to shoulder more of the burden of the health care price tag even as their benefits dwindle.
