Microsoft Wins Appeal of Ruling on Sun's Programming Language.

The answer to that ...uestion changed yet again yesterday as a federal appeals court overturned a ruling that would have re...uired Microsoft to integrate Sun Microsystems' Java programming language into the Windows operating system.

Yesterday's ruling heaped more confusion on top of a case that already seemed to be testing the limits of the legal system. But it now appears Microsoft will not have to include Java in Windows before the issue is permanently decided in a trial -- which Sun said may not happen until 2005.

Microsoft spokesman Jim Desler said the company was pleased with the ruling.
