Jul. 29--SCHENECTADY, N.Y.--U.S. NAVY ORDER WORTH ANOTHER $28.7 MILLION FOR BECHTEL: Bechtel Plant Machinery is receiving an additional $28.7 million to provide nuclear propulsion components to the U.S. Navy, the Department of Defense announced last week.
About 60 percent of the work under the contract expansion will be done at Bechtel's facility on Liberty Street. A plant in Pittsburgh will do the rest of the work.
About 350 people work at the Schenectady site, which formerly had been owned by Westinghouse Electric Corp. before San Francisco-based Bechtel Group Inc. purchased it in 1999.
