Tampa, Fla., Retailers Look forward to Yankee Doodle Dandy Sales.

Jul. 3--TAMPA, Fla.--Red, white and blue mean something different to retailers this time of year: Green, green and more green.
Sales of flags, fireworks and other patriotic items rose dramatically last Fourth of July, after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
This year, sales continue to stay strong because of the war in Ira..., retailers say. Independence Day is Friday.
"It seems like retailers have put stars and stripes on just about anything tangible," said Ellen Tolley, spokeswoman for the National Retail Federation. "We've got tanning beds; we've got contact lenses; we've got Band-Aids; we've got car mats. There's no stopping the patriotic merchandise."...
