Jul. 10--NEW HAVEN, Conn.--Jurors were presented with a stark choice Wednesday during closing arguments in the federal racketeering trial of the Triumph Capital Group: Did former state Treasurer Paul J. Silvester have an agreement with Triumph to steer it a $200 million investment in return for millions in bribes? Or was the exchange of enormous sums between Triumph and Silvester "just politics as usual"?
