Thai Jeweler Takes Leaf from Direct-Sales Book.

Jul. 11--The local jewellery retailer Jubilee has teamed up with an Indian-born diamond trader to introduce a personal franchising model similar to those applied by direct-sales cosmetic firms in a move to establish a new marketing channel.

The model, said to be the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, is being introduced by Earth Star Diamond Co, a 60:40 joint venture between Jubilee founder Viroj Phonprakit and Sachin Mehta.

Mr Mehta is a rough diamond trader, also known as a sightholder, with business operations in Antwerp, Belgium, one of the world's premier diamond centres.
