Energy Department Workers at Colorado's Rocky Flats Face Layoffs.

Jul. 11--Department of Energy employees assisting with the cleanup at Rocky Flats were told this week that the agency could begin phasing out as many as 90 positions in the coming months.

"As we're moving ahead with the cleanup and closure, it's inevitable that we will need to lay people off," said Karen Lutz, a spokeswoman for the Department of Energy, which employs roughly 150 people at the former weapons plant.

Those positions include administrative staff, supervisors and engineers.
