Orange County, Fla., and Religious Attraction Battle over Park's Tax Status.

Jul. 21--Orange County and the nonprofit owner of The Holy Land Experience are still battling in court over property taxes -- and the biblical attraction's unpaid tax bill is rising.
Both sides are sticking to their arguments and heading for judgment day in Circuit Judge William Gridley's Orlando courtroom, and possibly a trial during the first half of next year.
Zion's Hope Inc., which owns the south Orlando attraction, argues that the park spreads the church group's religious message and deserves tax-free status. The county contends it's a theme park, period, and should be taxed. Every month that Zion's Hope postpones payment, the property tax bill...
