Jul. 21--Enjoying working more with the tools of an artist than the tools of an athlete, Russ Slaughter followed his own career path.
"Everyone thought I should become a basketball player because I was so tall [6 feet 2 inches] and skinny growing up," said Slaughter, who is now executive vice president and creative director for Tinsley Advertising Inc. in Coral Gables.
But following a passion for creative things, Slaughter studied fine arts at the University of Florida and the Ringling School of Design in Sarasota.
