Congressional Committee Approves $15.5 Billion Budget for NASA.

Jul. 22--WASHINGTON--The House Appropriations Committee approved a $15.5 billion 2004 budget for NASA on Monday, although the allotment is almost certain to change because of additional costs related to the space shuttle Columbia accident.

The House budget blueprint includes what the National Aeronautics and Space Administration re...uested earlier this year for the space-shuttle and international space-station programs, and a planned orbital space plane to ferry astronauts to and from the station. The legislation, which still must pass the full House, calls for $7.8 billion for spaceflight, which includes those programs.
