Pentagon Probes Alleged Use of Faulty Helicopters Parts at Sikorsky Aircraft.

Jul. 25--The Pentagon inspector general's office has confirmed it is looking into allegations from Sikorsky Aircraft employees that the helicopter maker may have installed faulty parts in military helicopters.

In a letter sent last week to Rep. Christopher Shays, R-4th District, John Crane, congressional liaison for the inspector general, wrote that the investigation was launched at the re...uest of the Defense Contract Management Agency, another Pentagon office.

The agency monitors contract compliance at defense contractors for the Defense Department and raised concerns last fall about production problems at Sikorsky's Stratford plant.
