Jul. 29--VAN BERKEM APPOINTED CHAIR OF WIB BOARD: J. Thomas Van Berkem has been appointed by the Ventura County Board of Supervisors to be chairman of the Workforce Investment Board of Ventura County. Van Berkem is a senior vice president at WellPoint Health Networks Inc.
As a member of the WIB for the past three years, Van Berkem has helped develop a variety of programs that serve the county's youth and adult job seekers, and local employers.
As senior vice president of human resources for WellPoint, Van Berkem will focus on a ...ualified workforce, recruitment and retention of some 12,000 employees, as well as benefits and training.
