NASA Board Recommends Better Cameras to Watch for Damage to Orbiter.

Jul. 31--WASHINGTON--The board investigating the space shuttle Columbia accident said Wednesday that NASA needs better and more accessible images of the massive external tank during launch and the ability to record an up-close look at the orbiter's wings during a mission.

The recommendation is the fifth the Columbia Accident Investigation Board has made to the space agency and the third to involve photographs or video of the shuttle during its ride to space and in orbit. The board's final report to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration is expected late next month.
