Wisconsin-Based Publisher to Lay Off 115 at Eden Prairie, Minn., Plant.

Aug. 9--About 115 people at Banta Corp.'s Eden Prairie plant are losing their jobs as the Wisconsin-based publisher continues consolidating. The company was to have finished notifying employees late Friday.

The layoffs affect people involved in supplying and running the plant's Web presses used to print 11-inch and 9-inch books, and doesn't affect the plant's sheet-fed operation, said Banta spokeswoman Laurie Case in Menasha, Wis.

About 75 people will be laid off between October and December, and another 40 will leave between next May and June. Case said the work is being transferred to Banta's plant in Virginia, which has newer presses and an...
