Aug. 9--Of the estimated 148.5 million Americans who now jabber away unfettered by phone cords, Jackie Vandaalwyk and Ian Oberschlake perhaps hit both ends of the cell phone-purchasing spectrum.

Vandaalwyk picked her Samsung wireless phone because she loved all the bells and whistles.

"I bought it because it had a color screen. You can play video games on it, like Tetris, and it has unlimited Internet access," said the Appleton 22-year-old. "And I just love the little fishies on the screen saver."

Her $300 phone came with a $104-a-month Sprint service plan. The cost is worth it, said Vandaalwyk, who is clearly delighted with her...
